While CraftBuilt was completing another fence project on Mount Sequoyah, nearby homeowners asked us to evaluate their aging six-foot privacy fence. Both homeowners are architects and wanted a replacement that would feel intentionally designed, provide a robust frame, preserve their view of the wooded area beyond the property, and safely contain their dog.

THE CHALLENGE
The existing privacy fence was old, worn, and blocked much of the view beyond the property. The replacement alignment ran along the side of a hill through rocky, root-filled soil with frequent changes in grade. The design also needed to limit gaps beneath the fence without creating an unnatural transition across the sloping ground.
COLLABORATIVE DESIGN AND INSTALLATION
After considering several concepts, the homeowners developed drawings for a custom pressure-treated pine frame with open cattle-panel infill. CraftBuilt worked closely with them throughout construction to translate the design to actual site conditions, adjusting post placement, panel transitions, gate details, and installation methods as the terrain required.
We also collaborated on the rockwork beneath the fence. The stone provides a natural-looking way to reduce irregular gaps between the panels and the changing ground elevation while tying the fence into the surrounding Mount Sequoyah landscape.
THE RESULT
The completed 80-foot custom fence combines a substantial wood frame with six-gauge wire infill, preserving views toward the wooded area while establishing a secure boundary for the homeowners’ dog. A matching custom wood-and-wire gate completes the enclosure.
The finished project reflects both the homeowners’ architectural vision and the practical installation decisions required by the rocky soil, exposed roots, changing grade, and varied slopes found along this Mount Sequoyah property.
